Dame Angela Watkinson, (18 November 1941) is a British politician. She is Conservative Party Member of Parliament (MP) for Hornchurch and Upminster, and was first elected in 2001. She was re-elected with an increased majorities in 2005 and 2010.

Political Career[edit]

She was first elected to Havering Council, then Essex County Council and finally to parliament, representing the then Upminster constituency in 2001, winning back the seat from Labour. She has built up her majority from 1,242 to 16,384 over 3 elections.

Following the General Election in May 2010, Angela became one of the Government Whips. Angela asked not to be reconsidered in the reshuffle in September 2012, allowing her to speak in the chamber once more.

She has held a number of roles including Shadow Minister for Education and Shadow Minister for Communities and Local Government.

Education[edit]

Angela Watkinson attended Wanstead County High School, her local Grammar School and later gained a degree in Business Administration whilst working full time.
