He was born August 9, 1951 in Kiusiur Village, Bulunsk Region, Yakut ASSR. Married with three children. Signatory to the March 11 Act on the Re-establishment of the State of Lithuania President of the Lithuanian Handball Federation

Awards: Medal of the 20th Anniversary of Restoration of Independence (2010); award for merits to medicine (2005); Commemorative Statute Gražina on the occasion of Lithuania’s accession to NATO (2004); Cross of Commander of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas (2004); Ordent do Merito Gra-Cruz of the Republic of Portugal (2003); Medal of the Baltic Assembly for upholding the unity and cooperation of the Baltic States (2002); Lithuanian Independence Medal (2000); Commemorative Medal of 13 January (1996)
