Anastasios Nerantzis  has been a co-founder of the New Democracy Party and was firstly elected in Peiraios B' region, running with the same party, in the Parliamentary elections of 1993. Since then, he has been re-elected continuously until the present day. From 2006 to 2007, he was the Deputy Minister of Development, while previously, from 2004 to 2006, he served as the Deputy Minister of Transport and Networks. He has also served as Secretary General and Vice-President of the Greek Parliament. He has also been a Member of the Committee dedicated to the Constitution Revision, as well as of the examination Committee inquiring the Siemens scandal. Currently he is the President of the Committee of Institutions and Transparency.
