Abdul Basit at "The Berlin International Economics Congress 2013” (Berlin; March 6th - 10th, 2013)

Abdul Basit was born on 10th April 1958 in Pakistan. He is the former Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany.

Diplomatic Career[edit]

In 1982, Abdul Basit entered the foreign service of Pakistan. He has worked in a variety of roles within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This included being a section officer, director, director-general and a foreign office spokesman. His diplomatic career took him to the missions of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Moscow (1985-1988), New York (1991-1994), Sana'a (1994-1997), Geneva (2001-2003) and London (2003-2008). He became the Pakistani ambassador to Germany in May 2012. In 2013, he was appointed High Commissioner to India.


Education[edit]

He obtained a Master's degree in International Relations.
