Food Security
Food Security
Food security refers to the ease of access to food amongst a population. Food security assessment is the method by which food security is measured in terms of potentially disruptive factors such as wars, economic shortages, droughts, floods and other elements which have the potential to disrupt the availability of food in a region. There are three main aspects to food security: food availability – having a sufficient amount of food available on a consistent basis; food access – having sufficient resources to access the food; and food use – knowing how best to use the food available in a nutritious and sustainable way. Food-insecure people are those who are unable to access enough food to fulfill their recommended daily calorie intake or drink enough clean water
