Born in Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura (Canary Islands) in 1956, Domingo Francisco Fuentes Curbelo is a Spanish senator for the Spanish Socialist Party, Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE) for the 10th Congress of Deputies.

Political Career

Domingo Francisco Fuentes Curbelo was Vice-President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura for three terms. In the 1987-1989 legislative term he held the position of second secretary at the Bureau of Parliament. In 1989 he joined the Socialist Party-PSOE Canario, in which he has held various organizational responsibilities. In 2000 he was elected General Secretary of the PSC-PSOE in Fuerteventura, a position he currently holds. Furthermore, he was a member within the First Board of the University of La Laguna. Within the Spanish Senate, he is the Second Vice-President in the Committee on International Development Cooperation, the Second Secretary within the Committee on Culture and a member of the Joint Committee on Relations with Ombudsman. Nowadays, Domingo Francisco Fuentes Curbelo belongs to several professional, NGOs and social groups and cultural associations. He has published several books of poetry and two novels. commissions

Education

Fuentes Curbelo has a BA in English and Germanic Philology from the University of La Laguna. From 1979 he taught at several institutes of secondary education of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura.
