Algirdas Vaclovas Patackas
Algirdas Vaclovas Patackas (born 28 September 1943 in Trakai, Lithuania) is a Lithuanian engineer, technologist and politician. He has been a memeber of the Parliament since 1992. In 2012, he became a member of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture.
Political Career
Patackas' political career started in 1988, when he became a member of the Initiative Group in Kaunas, where he took part in a Lithuanian Reform Movement. In 1990 he was elected to the Supreme Council in Žaliakalnis. From 1992 to 2000 in the Parliament he belonged to this movement, then the Christian Democrats led by Lithuanian-Czech inter parliamentary relations group. Afterwards he worked on defence system projects and participated in the special missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chechnya and Georgia. In 2012 he joined the Committee on Education, Science and Culture as a member and additionally became a member of several other different groups and missions.
Education
In 1966, he graduated from the Polytechnic Institute and obtained the Diploma of Technological Engineer. From 1968 he was in the Academy for post-graduate students and wrote 9 scientific articles on the subject of Electrochemistry.
