Gerhard Deimek

Gerhard Deimek, born on January 9, 1963 in Steyr, is an Austrian politician and a Member of Parliament for the FPÖ (Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs; Freedom Party of Austria) since 2008.

Political career

Gerhard Deimek has been member of the Freedom Party (FPÖ) since 1990. Since 1991, he has been local councillor in the parish churches in Bad Hall. In 2005, Deimek was elected as county party chairman of the FPÖ in Steyr-Land, and since April 2008, he has been also the Vice-Chairman of the State party of FPÖ Upper Austria. Deimek is as representative of the FPÖ in the Supervisory Board of TMG, the Upper Austrian Technology and Marketing Company.

Since October 28, 2008, Gerhard Deimek has been a Member of Parliament and the spokesman for transport, infrastructure and technology since 2010. In the legislature up until 2013, Deimek has been member of the Standing Subcommittee of the Court of Auditors Committee, Examination Committee: Clarification of corruption charges, Committee on Research, Innovation and Technology, Committee on Agriculture and Forestry, Committee on Economic and Industry, Construction Committee, Transport Committee and Science Committee.

Education

Deimek attended elementary school in Bad Hall (1969-1973) and the BRG Steyr Michaelerplatz (1973-1981). He then studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Vienna (1981-1989).

Notable work

Gerhard Deimek authored over 50 publications in national and international journals in German, English and French and held several seminars.
