Anthony Hopkins

Anthony Hopkins was born in Margam, Port Talbot, Wales, on 31 December 1937. He is an actor of film, stage, and television, but spends his time as a composer and painter. Hopkins graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in 1957. He attended at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and was then spotted by Laurence Olivier who invited him to join the Royal National Theatre. In 1968, he got his break in film in The Lion in Winter, playing Richard I. Anthony Hopkins, well known for his portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs; he is considered one of the greatest living actors. Hopkins received an Academy Award, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and won three BAFTA Awards and two Emmys. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003, and was made a Fellow of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in 2008. In 1993, Anthony Hopkins was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for services to the arts.

Anthony Hopkins is actively engaged with different humanitarian programs, such as Free Arts for Abused Children that inspire hope in the lives of children who have experienced abuse, homelessness, and poverty through innovative creative arts programs and positive interactions with caring adult volunteers; Midnight Mission, which offers a path to self-sufficiency to men, women and children who have lost everything; or St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters which support over 25 locations throughout the New York area by distributing free clothing, soup kitchens, safe havens, drop-in centers and shelters.

Health Care

In the field of heath care, Hopkins supports the Cancer Project that provides comprehensive educational materials, conducting clinical research studies, and publicizing the benefits of a healthy diet in cancer prevention and survival and finally the Starlight Children's Foundation, which brighten the lives of seriously and terminally ill children in order to take their minds off the pain, fear and isolation of their illness.

Education

By supporting LEAP Foundation, Hopkins is contributing to help high school students, college students, and recent graduates, get a “7 year LEAP on success.” LEAP is committed to educating young adults in the value of goal-setting, effective communication, and the invaluable power of mentorship.
