Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis is Cypriot politician, academic and highly respected writer on political issues.

Biography
During her long and fruitful career, Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis has represented Cyprus in numerous Assemblies, Congresses and Conferences, not just for the European Union, but also the Council of Europe, the Commonwealth, the OSCE and the United Nations. She has also published a great body of work on a wide range of issues, most notably the Cyprus Problem, the United Nations and the European Union, Cultural Diplomacy and Foreign Policy as well as Gender Equality.
Education
Born in Limassol in 1949, Marcoullis studied Law (1972) and Public Law with Political Science (1974) at the University of Athens. Following this he obtained a PhD in Sociology and Political Science from the University of Helsinki in 1979.
Notable Work
• Member of the Permanent Mission of Cyprus to the United Nations (1980-1988) • Diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1980-2007 • Member of the Cyprus Question Division (1988-1993) • Director of the Cyprus Question and EU-Turkey Affairs Division • Director of the Permanent Secretary's Office (1993-1996) • Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the United States of America (1998-2003) with parallel accreditation to, Brazil, Canada Guyana, Jamaica, as well as the World Bank, the IMF, ICAO and the Organization of American States. • Ambassador to Sweden as well as all other Nordic and Baltic States (2005-2007) • Ambassador to Lebanon and Jordan (2005-2007). • Minister of Communications (2010 – Present) • Minister of Foreign Affairs (2011-2013)
