Laurette Onkelinx was born on October 2nd 1958 in Ougrée (Belgium). She is a member of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives for the French-speaking Socialist Party (PS).
Political Career[edit]
Laurette Onkelinx is a former Minister of social integration, public health and environment (1992-1993), Minister-President and Minister of the civil service, child’s healthcare and promotion of health in the French community Government (1993-1995), Minister-President and Minister of Education, Media, Youth, Child’s healthcare and promotion of health in the French community Government (1995-1999), Vice Prime Minister and Minister of labour (1999-2003), Vice Prime Minister and Minister of labour and transport (2003), Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Justice (2003-2007), and most recently, Minister of social affairs and public health (2007-2014). Laurette Onkelinx is also active on the local level. She is a former councillor of Seraing, and currently holds a seat in the local council of Schaarbeek.

She graduated in law at the University of Liège.
