Robert Biedroń was born 13 April 1976 in Rymanów beside Krosno, Poland and is a Polish LGBT activist and politician. He was previously a member of Social Democracy of the Republic of Poland party and the Democratic Left Alliance. Currently, he is a member of Palikot's Movement. He also serves on the board of the Polish Campaign Against Homophobia.


== Political career ==

Since his graduation Robert Biedroń was active in social organizations working for human rights and LGBT people. He was associated with the Lambda then - after leaving Poland- he was cooperating with the organization OutRage! from the UK. In 2001 he became a co-founder of the Campaign Against Homophobia, to 2009, he served as president of the organization, then became a member of the board of the organization. He was part of the advisory board of the program and the Government Plenipotentiary for Equal Status of Women and Men.

Distinguished by LGBT organizations, among others- Rainbow Laurels (2003), he received the title "Man of the Rainbow" (2004). He is an honorary member of the Association of Diversity Workshop. He was also chairman of the Foundation for Trans-Fusion, a member of the Equality Foundation and a member of the supervisory board of the Foundation Replica.

In the 90s, worked in a youth organization SdRP and then in the Social Democracy of the Republic of Poland. Later, he became a member of the Federation of Young Socialists and the Democratic Left Alliance, served on the national executive committee of the party. In 2001, as one of the first politicians took part in the Warsaw Equality Parade. From the list of SLD ran unsuccessfully for election to Parliament in 2005, getting 1686 votes (representing 0.22% of all votes cast in the Warsaw area). In the same year, he quit SLD. 

In 2011, resigned as a candidate in elections to the Sejm of the SLD party and was non-partisan candidate from the first place on the list of the Palikot Movement in the district No. 26, based in Gdynia. He obtained a parliamentary seat for Members of Parliament for the seventh term, getting 16 919 votes (3.73% of the votes cast in the district). He is the first person elected to the Polish parliament, which openly declares homosexual orientation. In October 2013, following the restructuring of the Palikot Movement, became a member of Your Movement Party.
