Umberto Bossi

Umberto Bossi was born on the 19th of September 1941. He is an Italian politician and the former leader of the Northern League Party.

Political career[edit]

He was a sympathiser of the Italian Communist Party in his early years. In 1982 he founded the Lega Lombarda, which later became the Northern League Party. This party seeks autonomy or independence for the North of Italy. He was the leader and the president of the party until 2012. In 1987 he was the senator of the Northern League. In 2002 he was appointed Reforms Minister during Berlusconi’s government. From 2008 until 2011 he became minister for Institutional Reforms in Berlusconi’s fourth cabinet. In 2006 he was elected deputy. In 2012 he resigned from the position as president of the Northern League because of many political scandals.

He studied Electrician at the correspondence school Radio Elettra.
