Montserrat Candini i Puig born in Barcelona on the 8th September 1957, is a Spanish senator elected for the constituency of Barcelona. She is a member of the Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya.

Political Career[edit]

Montserrat Candini i Puig was elected as senator for the first time in the 9th term, and re-elected for the current term. During the current term, she is acting as a deputy member for the Permanent Deputation. She is also 4th secretary of the general commission of the Autonomous Communities, spokesman for employment and social security and development among others committees. Montserrat Candini i Puig started her political career in the city council of Calella (Barcelona) in 2003 as spokesperson of the CiU group (Convergència i Unio) and then as president of the group and mayor of the same city. She is also President of the Commission of Tourism of the Catalonia’s Association of Municipalities and Vice-president of the Consortium of tourist promotion of “el Maresme”.
