Monika Grütters
Monika Grütters, born January 9th 1962 in Münster, is a German politician CDU) and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media. Since 2005 he has been a member of the German Bundestag.
Political career[edit]
Monika Grütters joined in 1978 the Junge Union and in 1983 the CDU. In 1998 she was a member of the State Executive Committee of the CDU in Berlin. From 1995 to 2005 Monika Grütters was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives. There she was spokeswoman of Scientific and Cultural Affairs and from 2001 to 2005, deputy chairman of the CDU faction. Since 2005 she has been member of the German Bundestag. Additionally, on December 17th 2013, Grütters was the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media.
Education[edit]
After graduation in 1981 from High School in Münster, Monika Grütters studied German, Art History and Political Science at the Westfälische Wilhelms -Universität in Münster and the Rheinische Friedrich - Wilhelms- University Bonn.
Notable Achievements[edit]
Since 1991 Monika Grütters has been a lecturer at the Cultural Management department at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik " Hanns Eisler". In 2005 she was Honorary Professor at the Free University in the Arts and Media department.
Monika Grütters has also worked in the public relations of the former Bank of Berlin. In 1998 she was the spokeswoman for the Board of the Foundation Brandenburger Tor.
Monika Grütters is a member of the Central Committee of German Catholics (ZdK) and since December 2013 Spokesperson for Culture, Education and Media.
