Liesbeth van Tongeren

Liesbeth van Tongeren, born on March the 31th, 1958 in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands, is a Dutch politician, and former civil servant and director of Greenpeace Netherlands (2003-2010). As a member of GreenLeft (GroenLinks), she has been a Member of Parliament since June the 17th, 2010. She focuses on matters of climate, energy, spatial planning, conservation and traffic.

Van Tongeren grew up in Almelo and obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the Free University Amsterdam and a Master’s degree in International Law from the University of Amsterdam.

Political Career[edit]

As mentioned, she has already been a Member of Parliament since 2010. Before that she was active in several positions in civil society working groups and organizations.

Education[edit]

After attending general pre-university secondary education in Almelo, the Netherlands, Van Tongeren went on to university. As mentioned, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the Free University Amsterdam and a Master’s degree in International Law from the University of Amsterdam.
