José Ignacio Sánchez Amor

José Ignacio Sánchez Amor, born 15 May 1960 in Cáceres, is a member of the Spanish Chamber of Deputies representing the Spanish province of Badajoz. Sánchez Amor is a member of the Spanish Socialist Worker’s Party, Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE) and he is a member of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Grupo Socialista (GS) within the Chamber of Deputies.

Political Career[edit]

Sánchez Amor has been an MP for the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) from Badajoz, for one term, since 2011. Previously, from 1984 to 1986 he was the Dean of Law at the Complutense University of Madrid, specializing in Constitutional Law and Political Science. Since 1986 he has been a Lawyer of Legal Services in the Extremadura and since 2001 he has been the Secretary General of the PSOE in Mérida. From 2004 to 2007 Sánchez Amor was the Vice-Chairman of Extremadura and from 2009 to 2011 he was the Vice President of the Congress of the Council of Europe. From 2007 to 2011 he was a speaker of the Socialist Group in the Assembly of Extremadura.

In the Chamber of Deputies José Ignacio Sánchez Amor is the Second Vice-President of the Constitutional Commission and the Vice President of the Spanish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). He is a member of the Committee on Interior, on Finance and Public Administration, the Joint Committee for the European Union, and of the Subcommittee on Social Media Study.Finally, he is associated to the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
