Jesús Alique López

Jesús Alique López was born in Sacedón, Spain, on 1st January 1962 and he is a Spanish politician and a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE).

Political Career[edit]

He began his political activity in the mid-1980s by joining the Spanish Socialist Workers Party. In the municipal elections of 1991 he was elected alderman of his hometown, where he served as Chief Councilor of Industry and Tourism until 1995. In the municipal elections of 1995 he appeared in the list of the PSOE councilor for Guadalajara, where he was elected, and was nominated by his party as Provincial Deputy. Later in 1999, he was Head of the PSOE list and candidate for Mayor of Guadalajara. He was elected provincial deputy and President of the Council of Guadalajara.

In the municipal elections of 2003 he was reelected as head of the Socialist list and was elected mayor. In the 2007 elections for Mayor, he lost and in the general elections of 2008, he became head of the PSOE list for the Congress of Deputies for the province of Guadalajara, winning the seat. During the Ninth Legislature he was Spokesperson of the Socialist Group in the Committee of Industry, Tourism and Commerce and member of the Standing Committee. In the next legislature, he was elected as a Senator for the province of Guadalajara. He served as spokesperson of the Socialist Group in the Committee of Industry, Energy, and Tourism. Furthermore, he has been Secretary General of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party local branch and the province of Guadalajara.

Jesús Alique López holds a degree in Law from the University of Alcalá de Henares.
