Janvit Golob

Janvit Golob (born October 6, 1945) is a member of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia.

Political career[edit]

In the period from 2002 till 2007, he was National Councilor for the field of research, to which he added contents from the field of development and technology and the field of strengthening the links between the economy and public research-development sphere in institutes and universities as key element to increase the added value of Slovenian products and services. He was active in the Commission for Economic and Commission for Social Activities, as well as in the Commission GLOBE together with members of the National Assembly.

In the current mandate of the National Council (2012-2017), Golob leads the Commission for International Relations and European Affairs. Moreover, he is an active member of the Commission for Social Welfare, Labor, Health and the Disabled, the Commission for Culture, Science, Education and Sports and the Commission for Economy, Trade, Tourism and Finance.

Professional Career[edit]

After graduation, he was employed at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in Ljubljana. Aside from lecturing at the University of Ljubljana and Maribor, he was also in charge of teaching, research and industry work in the fields of polymer, organic and biochemical engineering. He was also the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for two years.

Education[edit]

Golob graduated in 1968 obtaining the title of Engineer in chemical science. Continuing his studies, he completed his Ph.D. in chemical engineering in 1975.
