Henry Ashton

Thomas Henry Ashton, 4th Baron Ashton of Hyde was born on 18th July 1958. As eldest son of Thomas Ashton, 3rd Baron Ashton of Hyde, he succeeded him after his death. He is Trustee in the Ashton Charitable Trust.

Political Career[edit]

He served in the Royal Hussars and the Royal Wessex Yeomanry. Prior to joining the government, Thomas Henry Ashton was Chief Executive Officer of Faraday Underwriting Ltd and since 2010 he has sat on the Council of Lloyds. During the last year he has been a member of the Royal College of Defence Studies’ 2013/14 course. In 2011 he was elected to the House of Lords with the Conservative Party. In July 2014 he was appointed a Lord in Waiting and whip in the House of Lords as part of Prime Minister David Cameron's government reshuffle. Before joining the government he was a member of the House of Lords Select Committee on the Arctic.
