Frank de Grave
Frank de Grave was born on the 27th of June 1955 in Amsterdam. He is a member of the Dutch Senate for the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). He also is chairman for the corporation board of the pension fund PGGM. He is also the chairman of the order of medical specialists.
Political career[edit]
Before he entered into politics he worked for the ABN AMRO Bank. Between 1982 and 1987 he was a member of the city council for the VVD in the municipality of Amsterdam. He was a member of the Dutch House of Representatives for the VVD from 1982 to 1990. Between 1990 and 1996 he was again a member of the city council in the municipality of Amsterdam. He was also an alderman of finance and the deputy mayor of Amsterdam. In 1996 he became Secretary of State for Social Affairs and Employment. He held this position until August 1998. In the same year he was a member of the Dutch House of Representatives for the VVD. From 1998 to 2002 he was Minister of Defence. Subsequently, he was a member of the Dutch House of Representatives till 2004. After that, he worked for various different medical and financial institutions. In addition to his career, de Grave has been active in various different commissions of the VVD and the JOVD (the youth department of the VVD).

De Grave studied Dutch law at the University of Groningen from 1973 to 1979.
Interesting facts[edit]
In 2002 de Grave became an Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau. This order is a chivalric order open to everyone who has earned special merits for society.
