Eveline Lemke

Eveline Lemke, born 1964 in Hamburg, is a German politician (Alliance '90 / The Greens). From 2008 to 2011 she was spokeswoman for the National Federation of green Rhineland-Palatinate. Since May 18, 2011 she has been Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Economic Affairs, Climate Protection, Energy and Regional Planning.

Political Career[edit]

Lemke has been a member of Alliance 90 / The Greens since 1995. From 2001 to 2005 she was Group President of the municipal council in Neu-Anspach and belonged for a short time to the council of Hochtaunuskreises. In 2005 she moved to Westerwald. From May 2006 to December 2007 she was a member of the board of the District Association of Old Churches. In June 2008, she was Associate Judge of the Board of Ahrweiler District Association of Alliance 90 / The Greens, and since 2010, its executive board spokeswoman.

Eveline Lemke was elected at the state election on March 27, 2011 in Rhineland-Palatinate. Alongside Daniel Kobler, she led the coalition negotiations with the SPD under Kurt Beck..

In May 2011, Lemke was appointed Minister for the Economy, Climate Protection, Energy and Regional Planning of the red-green state government as well as Deputy Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Education[edit]

She trained as a foreign language secretary in English and Spanish at the State Foreign Language School graduating in 1985. She went on to study wholesale and foreign trade at Carl Later GmbH in Hamburg. She also studied Economics and Business Administration at the University of Hannover and the University of Hagen.
