Bärbel Bas

Bärbel Bas ( born May 3, 1968) is a german politician and a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD).

Political Career[edit]

Bas became member of the SPD in 1988. Following that year, she became the assessor in Young Socialist subdistrict Board in Duisburg, where she was the chairman from 1990 to 1998. She equally is a member of the sub-district board of Duisburg SPD, where she is the deputy chairman. She has been involved in the Regional Board in the Lower Rhine. She has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2009. In December 2010 Bas has been voted to become the new chairman of the SPD state party council for the North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). She also has been working as a parliamentary secretary for the Member of the Executive Group Management Board of the SPD Parliamentary Group since 2013. In addition to this, she has been member of the board of the NRW state group since 2011. In February 2014, the Parliamentary Left of the SPD parliamentary group has appointed her as the Treasurer.

Education[edit]

After completing High-School In 1984. Subsequently, she visited a higher vocational technical school in Dinslaken for one year. She equally acquired an apprenticeship as an office assistant at the Duisburg Transport Company Ltd (DVG).
