Angelica Schwall-Düren

Angelica Schwall-Düren was born on the 16th of July 1948 in Offenburg. She has been a member of the German Federal Council for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since 2010. She is also the Minister for Federal Affairs, Europe and Media of North Rhine-Westphalia and she represents the state of North Rhine-Westphalia to the Federal Government.

Political career[edit]

Before her political career, she worked as a teacher at a high school. From 1994 to 2010 she was a member of the German Bundestag. Between 2002 and 2010 she was the deputy chairman of the SPD Parliamentary Group responsible for European Union Affairs.

Education[edit]

Schwall-Düren graduated from German secondary school in 1967 with the Abitur (A-Level). Subsequently, she studied History, Political Science and French in Freiburg. Between 1973 and 1977 she was a Research Assistant and an academic tutor at the University of Freiburg. In 1977 she received her doctorate.
