Andreas Psycharis

Andreas Psycharis (Greek: Ανδρέας Ψυχάρης, born in August 1967, in Athens, Greece) is a Greek politician and diplomat. He serves as a Member of the Hellenic Parliament at the first electoral prefecture of Athens.

Political Career[edit]

He served as a career Diplomat for Greece from 1992–2012. In September 2011 he returned from Munich where he was the Consul General of Greece, in order to assume the position of the Diplomatic Advisor to the President of New Democracy, Mr. Antonis Samaras. During his years in the diplomatic corps, Andreas Psycharis served at the Embassies of Greece in Nicosia and Washington D.C. He also served as Consul at the Consulate General of Greece in London. In 2005, he appointed as the first Consul General of Greece in the newly established Consulate General in Tampa, Florida, USA, until 2009.

He was elected as a Member of Parliament, in the First District of Athens on 6th May 2012 with the New Democracy party. He was re-elected on June 17th 2012 elections. He is a member of the Greek Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA). He is the chairman of the Greece-Sweden parliamentary friendship group. He is also a member of the Greece-France and Greece-China friendship groups.

He holds a Bachelor Degree in Journalism from the Duquesne University, USA.
