André Postema

André Postema (born on November 2nd, 1969 in Groningen) is a member of the Dutch Senate for the Labour Party (PvdA). In the Dutch Senate he focuses on social affairs, finance and health.

Political Career[edit]

André Postema was research economist and economic adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from February 1st, 1995 until June 1st, 1995. From March 14th, 2002 until October 1st, 2005 he was a member of the council of Maastricht for the PvdA. He was Vice President of the Executive Board (in charge of finance, integrated business management, human resources, ICT and interest in UM Holding) at the Maastricht University from October 1st, 2005 until January 1st, 2014. Since June 7th, 2011 Postema has been a member of the Dutch Senate for the PvdA. He is also member of the Benelux parliament where he has been the chairman of the Dutch delegation since June, 2011.

Education[edit]

André Postema studied for a doctorate in Economics at the University of Groningen from 1991 until 1995. From 1990 until 1991 he did the first year of Economics in Groningen. From 1989 until 1990 he did the first year of History at the University of Leiden. From 2003 until 2004 Postema studied History at the New Mexico State University in Las Gruces. Furthermore, in 2009 he studied advanced management program at Harvard Business School.
