Angeles Alvarez Alvarez (Molacillos (Zamora), February 12, 1961) is a Spanish socialist politician.

Political Career[edit]

She was elected Councillor for the City of Madrid in 2001 to 2011 and became Deputy Spokeswoman of the Municipal Socialist Group, following the departure of Pilar Gallego. As a member of the Madrid Corporation, she was PSOE spokeswoman in the District Board of Retirement and Deputy Spokeswoman at the Annual Commission on Family and Social Services. She was also a member of the Governing Council of the Autonomous IAM, and vocal in the Committee on Employment and Equality Madrid Federation of Municipalities. She became part of the first executive for Thomas Gomez as secretary for Equality Policy and Electoral Action PSM-PSOE after the Congress of the PSM, held on 27th and 28th July 2007.

Education[edit]

She worked as a guest lecturer at various universities for postgraduate courses on violence as part of the Masters and Diploma in Gender Studies, Department of Sociology at Complutense University, other graduate studies at the Public University of Navarra and the Pontifical University of Salamanca. She also coordinated the implementation of Detects Project in collaboration with the National University of Distance Education (UNED), the Foundation for Women, carried out pioneering research to analyse the correlation between sexist beliefs and gender violence. She also co-directed the first training courses for teachers in pedagogies for Equality and Prevention of Gender Violence at the University of Alcalá de Henares.
