She held positions such as Health Minister from 1995 to 1999, and Minister for Equality in 1999 and 2000. She was also Vice-President of the World Health Organization General Assembly in 1997 and President in 1999. She was member of the Parliamentarian Group for Friendship between Portugal-Poland, Portugal-Italy, Portugal-United Kingdom, Portugal-Cape Green, Portugal-China and Portugal-Mozambique. Presently.
