Willi Brase

Willi Brase was born on October 10th, 1951 in Quetzen, Germany. He is a member of the SPD and trade union secretary, wholesale businessman, and social worker.

Political Career

Brase has been a member of the ÖTV trade union since 1976. From 1979 to 1981 he was a social worker for the youth welfare office of the city of Mönchengladbach. He is a member and alternating chairman of the administrative board of the Agency for Work in Siegen, as well as of the vocational board of the industry and trade chamber in Siegen; a member of the economic growth committee of the Siegen-Wittgenstein county council; and a member of the board of directors of the North-Rhine Westphalia state association for work Arbeit und Leben. Brase has been member of the SPD since 1981, and member of the Bundestag since 1998. He has worked in the German Trade Union Federation (DGB) since 1981.

Education

From 1966 to 1969, Brase completed an apprenticeship for business administration. He further studied social work from 1973 to 1976 at the Fachhochschule Niederrhein.
