Tineke Slagter was born on the 27th of December 1948 in Zwolle. She is a member of the Dutch Senate for the Socialist Party (SP) since 2003. She also is vice-chairman of the SP-fraction in the Senate. Besides, she is general practitioner in Zuidhorn.

Political career

Before her political function in the Senate, she was a nursing home physician, coordinator at 'Bureau Vertrouwensarts' and a general practitioner.

Education

Slagter studied medicine at the University of Groningen between 1968 and 1977. From 1982 to 1983 she was trained to become a general practitioner.
