Pedro Argamunt Font de Mora was born in Valencia (Spain) on the 12nd of September 1951. He is a politician to the People's Party and has been the Senator for Valencia for that party since 1993.

Education[edit]

Mr. Argamunt has a Degree in Law with a focus on Business Law which he obtained at the University of Valencia. In 1980, he graduated in Management Development at IESE Business School ( Barcelona).

Political Career[edit]

Pedro Agramunt became President-Spokesman of the People’s Party of the Valencian Community in 1990 and was a deputy of the Valencian Parliament on the III and IV of the Valencian Legislature (1991 to 1996). He is member of the Bureau of the People’s Party Parliamentary Group in the Senate, Speaker of the Territorial Group of Senators of the Valencian People’s Parliamentary Group, Member of the Constitutional Committee of the Senate, which has served as President from 1993 to 2004; Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Member of the Parliamentary Joint Commission for the control of the RTVE Corporation. Member of the Standing Committee of the Spanish Senate. Agramunt was a member of the Spanish delegation in the European Security and Defence Assembly/Assembly of WEU (Western European Union) since 2000, pertaining to its Committee of Presidents, the Defence Committee and the Political Committee, which was Chairman. Moreover, he was the president of the Federated Group of Christian Democrats and European Democrats, and eventuallty of the EPP-CD. Member of the Spanish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since 2000, belonging to the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Population, and member of its subcommittees of Refugees and Migration; to the Political Affairs Committee, being a member of its Subcommittee on the Middle East and early warning systems and crisis prevention in Europe; to the Committee on Economic Affairs and Development; to the Committee on the Honouring of Obligations and Commitments by member states of the Council of Europe (Monitoring Committee), which is Vice President, was rapporteur of the Monaco monitoring, and now is rapporteur of de Azerbaijan monitoring. He is chairman of the EPP-CD Group in the Assembly since June 2013.

Pedro Agramunt worked as a lawyer for 14 years (1975-1989) and has directed several companies, mainly in the textile industry. He has also been a member of several social organizations in the Valencian Community and Spain, such as: President of the Valencia Business Confederation (CEV), President of the Confederation of Employers Interprovincial Valencian Region (CIERVAL), President of the Valencian Association of Entrepreneurs (AVE), Member of Executive Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Valencia, Member of Executive Committee and the Board of the International Fair of Valencia, Member of the Social Council of the University of Valencia, Member of National Executive Committee of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE).
