Ostrom, Elinor (August 7, 1933- June 12, 2012)

American political economist involved with the work for new institutional economics and the resurgence of political economy. She received the 2009 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences, i.e., the Nobel Prize, for “her analysis of economic governance, especially the commons”, becoming the first and only woman so far to win this award.
