Averof Neofytou was born in Pafos in 1961.He is a Greek/cypriot politician and economist.

Political Career[edit]

Averof Neofytou is a representative of Pafos constituency under the banner of the DISY-Liberals Coalition (1996-1999) and of Nicosia constituency under the banner of DISY since 2006.He served as Mayor of Polis Chrysochous from 1991 to 1996 and Minister of Communications and Works of the Republic of Cyprus during Glafkos Clerides’ presidency for the period 1999-2003. Also he served as DISY Commissioner for Financial Affairs and Development,Deputy President of DISY,and Member of the National Council, the supreme advisory body to the President of the Republic on the Cyprus problem. Last he serves as President of DISY since May 2013.
