Martin Fronc (born 28.11.1947 in Košice) is Member of Parliament for KDH and former Minister of Education.

Political career

In 2000 he started working in the capacity of KDH. Between 1998 - 2002 he served as State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and also as a member of Scientific Councils of the University of Žilina, and at the Faculty of Business Management, Economics University in Bratislava. Since 2006, is Member of Parliament for KDH and acts as a member of the Committee on Education, Youth, Science and Sports. From 2002 to 2006 was the Minister of Education of the Slovak Republic. From 1998 to 2002 he was also member of the Council of the Government for the OECD, the Government Council for Science and Technology, Government Council for non-profit and non-governmental organizations. Currently is member of the Committee on European Affairs, of the Permanent Delegation of the Slovak Parliament to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and vice-chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Youth and Sports.

Education

In 1971 he graduated from numerical mathematics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the comenius University in Bratislava. In 1979 he received the scientific degree of Candidate of Sciences (CsC.) and in 1984 he was appointed as a docent (doc.).
