Maria das Mercês Gomes Borges da Silva Soares was born on July 15th, 1957. She is currently a Portuguese Parliamentarian and is also the superior technical consultant of the Office for Employment and Training.

Political Career

She was elected by the electoral circle of Setúbal through the Social Democratic Party, both in the XI (2009-2011) and XII (2011-2015) Legislature. From the range of positions she has held, the highlights include being elected as a member of the Social Democratic Workers National Council, Director of the Employment Center of Barreiro, Montijo and Seixal, and Member of Setúbal´s District Assembly for the Social Democratic Party. Furthermore, she also takes part in several Parliamentary Commissions, like the Budget, Finances and Public Administration Commission and the Health Commission.

Education

Maria das Mercês Borges is a History graduate.
