Lord Avebury is a Liberal Democrat politician who joined the House of Lords in September 1971.

Political Career

He has been involved in a large number of Committees ranging from the House of Lords Committee to the Statutory Instruments Joint Committee. He was also the local councillor for Orpington from 1961 to 1962. His main policy focuses include; alcohol harm, asylum, immigration, caste discrimination, European Union and many more.

Notable Work

From 1949 to 1951 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Welsh Guards Regiment of the British Army. He later went on to work for Rolls-Royce and the Charterhouse Group before becoming a politician.

Education

He studied at Upper Canada College in Toronto, Canada before studying at Balliol College, Oxford University.
