Marinus Jacobus (Koos) Schouwenaar (born on May 13th, 1947 in Rotterdam) is a Dutch politician of the VVD in the Dutch Senate. He serves also on behalf of the Liberal Group in the Benelux Parliament.

Political Career

Koos Schouwenaar has been a member of the Dutch Senate for the VVD since June 7th, 2011. He was the mayor of Middelburg from January 16th, 2002 until May 1st, 2012 and the mayor of Maarssen from April 8th, 1998 to January 16th, 2002. Schouwenaar was the mayor of Castricum from January 1st, 1986 until April 8th, 1998. He was the mayor of Venhuizen from January 1st, 1979 until January 1st, 1986. From November 1st, 1976 until January 1st, 1979 Schouwenaar was the official in Tubbergen.

Education

Koos Schouwenaar studied Dutch constitutional law at the University of Utrecht from 1970 until 1975 and studied also at the Royal Naval College (KIM) in Den Helder from 1965 until 1968.
