US president John F Kennedy makes the most famous state visit to Berlin. He gives his famous speech ?Ich bin ein Berliner? to more than one hundred thousand people. He declares the divided city a symbol of the freedom in the Western world as "All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Berlin".
