He has been a deputy of the Socialist Party elected by Porto since 1893. Amongst other things, he was Minister of Youth and Sport, Secretary of State of Portuguese Communities and Member of the Parliamentary Commission of National Defense. Plus, he was also President of the Parliamentary Assembly of OTAN. Currently, along with Deputy on the National Parliament, he is Vice-President of the Parliamentary Commission of National Defense, National Secretary of the Socialist Party and Vice-President of the Portuguese-Arabian Chamber of Business and Industry.

José Manuel Lello Ribeiro de Almeida was born in Porto, 18th May 1944.

Political Career[edit]

He has been a deputy of the Socialist Party for Porto since 1991. Amongst other things, he was the Minister of Youth and Sport, Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities and a Member of the Parliamentary Commission of National Defence. He was also President of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO. He is currently a member of both the Deputy on the National Parliament and Vice-President of the Parliamentary Commission of National Defence, National Secretary of the Socialist Party as well as Vice-President of the Portuguese-Arabian Chamber of Business and Industry.
