Joost Taverne

Joost Taverne (born 22 September 1971) is a Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). He has been an MP since 8 November 2012.

Political Career[edit]

Taverne started his career in politics as an advisor to several politicians. From 1998 to 1999 he was the personal assistant of Mr. Cornielje, Member of the House of Representatives for the VVD. In 1999, he served as assistant to one of the Dutch Members of the European Parliament, Mr. Maaten. He served as an advisor to the Minister of Education on international policy between 2003 and 2006. Since 2010 he has been a Member of Parliament for the VVD, with a short pause in between general elections in 2012.

Education[edit]

Taverne studied Dutch Law at the University of Leiden, from which he graduated in 1998.
