Jan Hornik

Jan Hornik was born on March 19, 1954, in Marianske Lazne. He is a Senator for district of Karlovy Vary, Mayor of the village of Bozi Dar, and a councilor of the Region of Karlovarsky. In the 2012 regional elections, he ran for TOP 09 and STAN for the post of Governor in Karlovy Vary.

Education

He attended elementary school and grammar school in Karlovy Vary. He graduated in ameliorationt at the Prague University of Agricultural. After school he worked in agriculture.

Political career

In 1990 he was elected Mayor of village of Bozi Dar, he has been in the function ever since. In 2000 he was elected to the Assembly of the Region Karlovarsky. Since 2004 he is a Senator of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. In 2009 he became a member of the political movement Mayors and independents (STAN), for which he retained the mandate in 2012.
