Jörn Donner

Jörn Johan Donner was born on the 5th February 1933 in Helsinki. He is a member of the Finnish parliament and is representing the Swedish Parliamentary Group. Jörn Donner is also a writer and a movie producer.

Political Career

Jörn Donner started his political career as a member of the Helsinki City Council 1969-1976. He returned again from 1985-1992 and 2005- incumbent. He first became a Member of Parliament from 1987-1995 and he returned for a short period in 2007 and again in 2013. Between 1990-1991 he was the Chairman of the Swedish Parliamentary Group. Donner was Chairman of the Parliamentary Supervisory Council in 1991-1995. He was also in the European Parliament, Committee on Foreign Affairs Security and Defence policy, from 1996-1999.

Education

Jörn Donner was educated at the University of Helsinki and gained a Master of Arts in 1959.

Other Achievements

Jörn Donner has been a chair member for the European Film Academy since 1997. He has also been the director of the Swedish Film Institute. Internationally Jörn Donner is best known as the producer of Ingmar Bergman's film Fanny and Alexander which in 1984 won a total of four Academy Awards. His novel "Far och Son" (Father and Son) won the Finlandia Prize in 1985
