Harald Troch, born on May 2, 1959 in Wien, is an Austrian politician and a Member of Parliament for the SPÖ (Sozialdemokratische Partei Österreichs; Social Democratic Party of Austria) since 2013.

Political career

Troch has been active in adult education since 1984 and gives lectures and workshops on historical issues and political education. He also taught English. He has been an employee of the City of Vienna since 1989, and is employed in the Municipal and Provincial Archives, as a librarian and researcher at the Society for History of the labour movement. Harald Troch has been employed in the SPÖ organization Simmering district since 1986 and was from 1987 to 1989 deputy of the Union of Socialist Students (VSStÖ).

In addition, Troch was Chairman of the VSStÖ Vienna between 1988-1989. As a result, Troch's work strengthened the SPÖ Simmering, where he led the SPÖ section Geiselsberg since 1992 and was a member of the District Council from 1993 to 2001. Since 1998, Troch has also been a member of the district party executive, and since April 2007, the Chairman of the Social Democratic Party district organization. Troch has represented the SPÖ since 2001 in the Vienna parliament and municipal council and is in the 18th legislative period a member of the committees "Housing, housing and urban renewal" and "Urban Development and Transport".

Education

Harald Troch attended elementary school in Herderplatz and the Bundesrealgymnasium Gottschalkgasse, both in Vienna-Simmering. Troch then did his military service and studied History, English and Education at the University of Vienna from 1978 to 1986.
