Giovanna Debono is a member of parliament of the Republic of Malta for the twelfth legislation.

Political Career

Debono was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1987. She was elected Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry for Social Development in 1995, and subsequently she was appointed as Minister for Gozo in 1998. She was re-appointed in 2003, confirmed in 2004, and further re-appointed in 2008. Giovanna Debono is Parliamentary Secretary, first in the Ministry for Social Development from 1995 to 1996, and then as minister of Gozo from 1998 to 2013.

Education

Giovanna Debono completed her studies at the University of Malta, where she got a B.A. (Education) degree. From 1981 to 1987 she worked as a teacher with the Education Department in Malta.
