Gaspar Llamazares Trigo

Gaspar Llamazares Trigo was born in Logroño on November 28, 1957. He is currently a member of the Spanish Congres within the Spanish United Left Party (IU).

Political Career

Coordinator of Izquierda Unida in Asturias, in the Sixth Federal Assembly of the United Left in October 2000, Trigo was elected general coordinator, replacing Julio Anguita Gonzalez. After a period of bad election results, Trigo was re-elected general coordinator of United Left in December 2004 at the eighth general assembly of the formation, characterized by strong internal division. The poor results of the elections of March 2008 led him to resign the position, yet he continues to serve in the Spanish Congress.


Education

Trigo has a Degree in Medicine and Surgery.
