Françoise Schepmans was born on June 18th 1960 in Sint-Agatha-berchem (Belgium). She is a member of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives for the Brussels party branch of the French-speaking Liberal Party (MR) and she is mayor of Sint-Jans-Molenbeek.

Political Career

Françoise Schepmans started her political career in 1988 as a councillor in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek. She was an alderman in this city from 1989 to 1995 and from 2006 to 2012. After the local elections in 2012, she became mayor of Sint-Jans-Molenbeek. From 1989 to 1995, she was also parliamentary assistant for the PRL (predecessor of MR) group in the Council of the French Community. She is also a former member of the Brussels Parliament and of the Parliament of the French Community in the period 1995-2014. From 2001 to 2004, Françoise Schepmans was president of the Parliament of the French Community. Since 25 May 2014, she has held a seat in the Belgian Chamber of Representatives for the MR.
