Fiach Mac Conghail was born August 4th 1964. He is the Director of the Abbey Theatre and was appointed as a Senator by the Taoiseach in may 2011.

Political Career

Before being appointed Senator by the Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Fiach Mac Conghail was the chairman of the We the Citizens. This initiative was aimed to encourage the participation of the public in political affairs.

Education

Fiach Mac Conghail was educated at the Coláiste Eoin and later the Trinity College in Dublin, where he obtained an Alma Mater in Economics and Politics.

Notable Work

Fiach Mac Conghail was very active in the field of arts. In the years between 1992 and 1999 he was the Artistic Director at the Project Arts Centre. During Ireland participation at the Expo 2000 he served as Director. Durring the Irish Presidency of the European Union in 2004 he was Cultural Programme Commissioner.
