Fatma Pehlivan

Fatma Pehlivan was born on September 1st 1957 in Istanbul. She is a member of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives for the Flemish Socialist Party (SP.A)

Political Career

She is a former Belgian senator from 2001 to 2009, was a member of the Flemish Parliament in the period 2009-2014, and she used to hold a seat in the senate as community senator (2009-2010, 2011-2014). Fatma Pehlivan was also active on the local level as former alderman in Gent from 2007 to 2009. Since 25 May 2014, she is a member of the Belgian Chamber of representatives for the Flemish Socialist Party (SP.A). She has also been an active member of the Belgian civil society as president of the Intercultural Centre for Migrants (ICCM) since 1999.

Education

She is trained as a tailor.
