The educational cooperation has represented the subject of the recent discussions that took place between the National Education and Higher Education Minister of Lebanon and the newly accredited US Ambassador to the country. One of the key issues discussed was the program through which Lebanon intends to improve education for Lebanese and refugee students.

The National Education and Higher Education Minister of Lebanon, H. E. Elias Bou Saab, has received this Monday in his office the newly accredited US Ambassador to Lebanon, H. E. Elizabeth Richard. The meeting took place in occasion of a courtesy visit paid by the Ambassador upon her nomination as head of the US mission in Lebanon.

The two officials discussed, among other things, about educational cooperation. Special attention was put to the Ministry’s educational projects, namely the plans designed to provide education for Lebanese and refugee students and to restore and reconstruct new schools.

More into detail, the new educational projects will focus on both accelerated learning and remedial education for refugees, as well as on offering basic humanitarian assistance on a limited scale. In this way, the programs will not only help the refugees to survive their current harsh conditions, but also to bring them hope for tomorrow. Overall, it seems that there is a political will to make a measurable difference in the lives of refugee families in Lebanon.

The recent meeting proved that education brought once again countries together, in their efforts to promote a sustainable cooperation in the field.
