Manuel Filipe Correia de Jesus was born on December 16th, 1941. He currently practices as a lawyer and a university lecturer.

Political Career

Correia de Jesus is the president of the General Assembly of Madeira’s House in Lisbon, the president of the Parliamentary Group for Friendship Portugal-Venezuela, the vice-president of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship Portugal-Brazil and a member of the Parliamentary Group for Friendship Portugal-Germany. He is currently in his seventh mandate at the National Parliament for the PSD political force, since starting his activity in the 6th legislature (1991-11-04). He is currently a member of several parliamentary committees (Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees; National Defense; Healthcare).

Education

Correia de Jesus has a Bachelor degree in Law.

Correia de Jesushas has been awarded with the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany; the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit of Spain; the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of Luxembourg; the Medal of National Defence - 1st Class; and the Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of France. He is also the author of several published works, namely about Portuguese communities living abroad.
